I am the Deputy head teacher and Year 6 teacher at Beaumont Lodge Primary School. I joined the Beaumont Lodge team in 2006 as a newly qualified teacher. |

I was a governor at a county infants' school, where I held the position of Chair of Governors. I joined the Governing Body at Beaumont Lodge after being a governor elsewhere as I feel I have transferable skills that may support the governing body. |

Hobbies and interests |
I have 2 amazing children (aged 9 and 13) who keep me busy with trips to the museums, parks and crafting. We love Disney films, so we are often at the cinema for the latest releases! I love reading books – especially children’s books, which I then turn into scrapbook reviews. |

I have lived in Leicester since I was 11 years old. After qualifying as a teacher in Nottingham, I moved back to Leicester and began to work at Beaumont Lodge Primary School in 2006. I love the school so much that many years later – I am still working here! I love the Beaumont Lodge community. I am lucky to teach and be a part of each child’s learning journey as they learn, develop, enjoy and succeed at Beaumont Lodge. |
|
Why did you become a governor? |
The role of governor is different to my role in school. It means that I can be supporting the school, which I am very committed to, in a different way. I am very proud to be a part of the Beaumont Lodge team. |

One of the teachers at the school is a friend and suggested it may be something I could help with. I’ve lived in Leicester most of my life and am familiar with the area in which Beaumont Lodge Primary School is located. |
|
Why did you become a governor? |
Having spent 18 years building relationships within the Leicestershire business network, I may be able to find opportunities for the school to build connections with local industry, to gain advice and knowledge on how the children’s futures and careers can be assisted. From a personal perspective, the education sector is not something I’m familiar with. I’m interested to learn and understand more about the challenges it faces, so I can champion the importance of education. As a business owner, I have a lot of knowledge and experience to draw from that I can share, which I believe could help support the children, the teachers and the school in achieving their goals.
